Toshiba: za 10 lat SSD będą tańsze niż HDD
Ceny nośników opartych na pamięciach flash do 2025 r. spadną do poziomu stawek za dyski talerzowe. Już po 2015 r. przyspieszy jednak proces wymiany HDD na SSD – uważa Toshiba.
Prognoza dotyczy ceny za 1 GB w nośnikach 3,5-calowych HDD, które pracują z prędkością 7200 obr./min., w porównaniu do dysków SSD o tej samej pojemności.
Zdaniem Yasuo Naruke, który kieruje działem półprzewodników i pamięci w Toshibie, trend wymiany HDD na SSD przyspieszy zarówno w przypadku produktów konsumenckich, jak biznesowych. Według niego obecnie cena za 1 GB SSD z wyższej półki jest podobna, co 2,5-calowego nośnika talerzowego o prędkość 15 tys. obr./min., zaś już w 2016 r. 1 GB szybkiego napędu SSD będzie tańszy. Z kolei w 2021 r. stawka za 1 GB SSD powinna spaść poniżej poziomu cenowego za 1 GB 2,5-calowego dysku HDD o prędkości 10 tys. obr./min. Dlatego firma spodziewa się, że po 2015 r. wiele centrów przetwarzania danych rozpocznie wymianę HDD, które cechuje prędkość pracy 10 oraz 15 tys. obr./min., na dyski SSD.
Zdaniem menedżera, aby sprostać przyszłym oczekiwaniom rynku, potrzebne będą nowe linie produkcyjne pamięci NAND. Firma ma ocenić, ile nowych fabryk, umożliwiających zwiększenie podaży dysków SSD, będzie trzeba zbudować.
